I came into graphic design by accident, by necessity, by not knowing enough to say, "I don't know how to do that." Though I've been blessed with a "good eye," I've learned by doing; practice makes perfect, etc., etc., etc.

As an independent historian and speaker, I've merged maritime history and art history. It started when I was packing up for a move, and while going through some ads for steamship lines, ads that had images of the public spaces, I became curious as to who did the murals.

A few months later, I had a list of well over 100 artists. Digging into their background has been something of a self-directed course in Art History, with a mid-century concentration. (The maritime end of it started back in grade school when I learned a distant relative was a Titanic survivor.)

The images on the left? Every now and then, I take a decent photo. A pair of eagles reside nearby. The area is also lousy with deer. But I like my landscapes.
